Sample Itinerary for India: The Golden Triangle and Rajasthan

Delhi

Two Week Itinerary for India:

The Golden Triangle and Rajasthan
Cities Visited: Delhi, Agra (Taj Mahal), Jaipur, Ranthambore National Park, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer

For the first week of your trip, follow the Golden Triangle Itinerary.

For the second week, start from Jaipur on your seventh day (or sixth night if you take an overnight train) and go to Udaipur. One of the most beautiful cities in Rajasthan, Udaipur will dazzle you with its shimmering lake, abundance of palaces, lush gardens, and stunning temples.

After two days in Udaipur, fly to Jodhpur on your eighth day (or take an overnight bus on your seventh night). Spend a day seeing Jodhpur’s magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, the stunning white Jaswant Thada, the Art Deco city palace, and the clock tower market.

On your eighth night, take an overnight train (there are no flights) to Jaisalmer, a golden sandstone city deep in the Thar Desert. Spend a day in Jaisalmer visiting the fort, and the city. On your tenth day do an overnight camel safari in the orange desert dunes.

On your eleventh day take a train back to Jodhpur and spend a night there before flying back to Delhi for your final days in India.

To extend this itinerary for a third week, see The Northern Route itinerary.
