The Imperial Hotel Delhi

Delhi

Don’t stay at The Imperial hotel in Delhi.

While the rooms and grounds at The Imperial are nice, the hotel’s service and staff at are terrible.

The concierge, front desk, bell staff, and drivers all seem to be trained in the art of ripping off guests.

One of the concierge staff tried to charge me 80 USD for a 2GB memory card for my camera until I told him that he was trying to cheat me, at which point he promptly lowered the price to 15 USD.

Another recommended a restaurant that my guidebook specifically singled out as being a place to avoid in Delhi.

The Imperial hotel’s taxis and bell hops repeatedly tried to overcharge me for taxis.

The front desk staff claimed to not know how to cancel my reservation when I told them that I wouldn’t be returning at the end of my trip.

The Imperial hotel’s flagship restaurant, The Spice Route, is gorgeous to look at but serves some of the most mediocre and overpriced food in India.

Avoid The Imperial hotel in Delhi at all costs. If you want good service, great restaurants, and high-quality rooms, stay at Le Meridian hotel instead.
